"Notice of Work Permit for Foreigners" is issued by State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs (SAFEA). The following materials should be submitted:

1. "Notice of Work Permit for Foreigners" Application Form（please submit an editable electronic version）.

2. Copy of valid passport.

3. Resume (please send a full resume and a shortened one (like no more than 2 pages), as a sealed Chinese version based on the shortened one is required); Proof of working experience or corresponding recommendation letter as described in resume, please contact any ONE (the application system of SAFEA requires at least one) of your previous working units to issue you such a proof, this proof need not be authenticated, but need to be translated into Chinese, in most cases your working unit will provide you with necessary language assistance upon the Chinese translation.

4. Highest degree diploma (certified by Chinese embassies/consulates in foreign countries or diploma issuing country embassies/consulates in China or Chinese academic certification bodies); Please bring the original copy, you should show the original copy after your arrival in China to SAFEA.

5. Background check (to certify a non-criminal record status) issued by the applicant's national or local police, courts, security departments and other departments, certified by Chinese embassies/consulates in foreign countries or foreign embassies/consulates in China. The applicant should live in the background check issuing entity area for more than 1 year. The background check is valid for 6 months. Applicant should show the original copy after the arrival in China to SAFEA.

6. Health examination (by international health examination institutions recognized by Chinese embassies or Chinese consulates in foreign countries or by the health and quarantine departments authorized by Chinese governments), please use the blank form provided and bring the original copy with you to China.

7. Employment agreement or formal contract.

8. Bareheaded photo (electronic photo, white background, facial features complete, clear images, no spots, flaws, ink defects .JPG format, with a size of 40K-120k bytes, no less than width 354 * high 472 pixels, no more than width 420 * high 560 pixels, 24 true colors), taken within 6 months.

9. If your family member comes with you, copy of his/her valid passport is required, along with corresponding family member’s marriage certificate (certified by Chinese embassies or Chinese consulates in foreign countries), birth certificate (certified by Chinese embassies or Chinese consulates in foreign countries, if your child is over 18 years old, he/she cannot apply for visa as your family member), health check(details see above, age below 18 years old exempt),background check(details see above, age below 18 years old exempt). You should show the original copy after your arrival in China.

The above mentioned marriage certificate & birth certificate would be used as a proof of legal relationship between a family member and the work permit applicant. And neither birth certificate nor its authentication upon the work permit applicant is required.

10. After your arrival in destination city in China (NENU locates in Changchun), within 24 hours, please contact the foreign affairs secretary in corresponding school to assist for the accommodation registration.

NOTES

1. Please apply for work visa in your passport country. If not, you need to provide a proof of your legal residency in whichever country you would like to apply for the visa.

2. For foreign teachers from another Chinese institution who has finished the previous contract, further materials are needed including:

a. Proof of ending of the previous contract.

b. Cancelation letter of the previous foreign expert card issued by SAFEA.

c. Recommendation letter from the previous institution.

3. Your diploma and background check, need to apply for a visa, like you do. The visa for these proofs is called certification, of which you can apply from Chinese consulate or embassy in your own country.
